all the details fell into place for me
with a burst of intuition.

Something that Jacob wouldn't keep from me. . . .

Previously on Twilight,
After the incident with Jasper, at the birthday party, Edward decides he doesn't want to put Bella in any danger. After the 'clean break' the Cullens leave Forks. Bella is found hanging out with Jacob Black. Jacob is talking about how he doesn't want to become part of Sam's 'gang'. Jacob has no choice, and joins. Sam says Jacob can't be friends with Bella anymore. Bella, being the danger magnet she is, tries Cliff Diving without Jacob. She falls and is later found by Jacob. She is taken back to her house, when a black Mersadies is parked in her driveway. Bella knew who's car it was, but it could be a trick. It was Alice Cullen. She had foreseen Bella jumping off the cliff and come to see if she was still alive.
Jacob finally comes in the next day, and Alice has a vision. Edward was in trouble. Bella got up and packed her things, they were headed to Volterra. Jacob asked Bella to stay, but she refused. Edward was going to commit suicide, Bella was the only one he would listen too. After a long plane trip, Alice steals a 911 Turbo Yellow Porsche and drives to the heart of Volterra. Edward is going through plans on how to kill himself. Finally he decides to walk into the sunlight. Bella runs, runs fast, to reach Edward and stop him.

"No!" I screamed. "Edward, look at me!"
He wasn't looking. He smiled very slightly. He raised his foot to take s step that would put him directly in the path of the sun.
I slammed into him so hard that the force would have hurled me to the ground if his arms hadn't caught me and held me up. It knocked the my breath out and snapped my head back.
His dark eyes opened slowly as the clock tolled again.
He looked down at me with quiet surprise.
"Amazing," he said, his exquisite voice full of wonder, slightly amused. "Carlisle was right."
"Edward," I tried to gasp but my voice had no sound. "I love you!" I told him and buried my face in his chest.
